16" high x 16" long x 7" wide Level: Intermediate/Advanced This double walled basket features an inner basket woven first with end handles, then this inside basket is used as a mold to form the outer basket. Black walnut spokes and weavers create the stunning design. Add custom-made black walnut feet, widened at the base for extra stability and sturdiness. Rim in a unique “wrapped” technique or use standard lashing.
Size: 12” dia x 6” high Weaving Skill: All levels Weave this basket with a special twist: black walnut weavers under maple curls that twist in three directions between each set of spokes, creating a lacy blossom look. Begin with a solid black walnut base and combination of natural and black walnut overlay spokes. Then chase weave on the sides. “Curls” are actually woven in as the sides are woven – horizontally – rather than after rims are completed.
12” dia. x 5” high Intermediate/Advanced Level Estimated time: 6 hours Fourth in the “Nelly” series of trac border baskets, this basket features a trac border/braided rim combination. Worked in tripled spokes and weavers, the base is woven in four rod waling (2/2 pattern), randed sides, and trac/braided rim. Choose from brown, blue, plum or green for the color.
10” high x 12” wide Level: Advanced The shape of this graceful basket is created by weaving over pre-shaped double spokes, cut from cherry. Sides are woven in a combination of chase and plain weave, with thin seagrass woven through paper-thin maple curls, creating the distinct undulating pattern on the sides of the basket and on the lid (inspired by an antique Indian basket). Learn a great way to form a center lid opening, perfect for pulling yarn ends through.

Skill level: Advanced/Intermediate Est. time: 4 hours Worked in fall colored reed, marbled strips and plenty of seagrass, Frolic features a slotted hardwood base, 2/2 waling and plain and continuous weaves. But the fun doesn’t stop there: create side handles from braided seagrass and add a seagrass decoration on the front of Frolic. The seagrass woven as weavers is worked continuously, passed upwards from row to row.

Begin with a 6" x 10" wooden oval base, and work in twining and plain weave, emphasizing shaping. Then embellish the sides with a wrapped/woven addition, reminiscent of delicate forget-me-not flowers. Finish off with a notched oak handle and rim lashing mirroring the pattern.
*Indian Summer
Intermediate to Advanced Level 13” diameter x 8” high Estimated time: 8 hours This double walled basket features a hardwood double-slotted base. The interior basket is space-dyed in fall harvest colors, and the exterior basket, woven in natural-colored reed, features two rows of French randing – space dyed to match the interior. But the real challenge is the rim: woven in an eight-strand braid around the top.
All weaving levels 8 ½” h x 6 ¾” dia. Estimated time: 4 hours Black walnut spokes are pre-shaped into “wavy” forms, interlocking into each other. The pedestal base is of solid black walnut. A fitted black walnut rim is glued onto the top of the basket, fitted with a beautiful lid. Optionally without lid.
*Jewel of the Nile
Intermediate weaving level Size: 11” dia x 10” high Estimated time: 8 hours Inspired by Pat Moritz's colorfully painted paper baskets, Jewel features marbled and space-dyed, pre-shaped spokes, set into a hardwood base. Because the spokes are pre-shaped, the actual shaping is simple. Sides are woven in a broken twill/reverse twill pattern with four diamond patters on the bottom third of the basket. Beads adorn the rim, lashed on with waxed linen in a modified blanket stitch. Kit: $39.00 Pattern: $4.00
*Marbled Magazine Rack
All weaving levels Size: 10” dia x 13” high (incl handle) Estimated time: 6 hours (pre-shaped spokes) Begin with a slotted hardwood base, and add a combination of pre-shaped spokes and dyed reed spokes. Chase weave the sides, then comes the fun: the handle is pre-cut with undulating edges and features a marbled strip. Rim bands are marbled strips, lashed on in a unique knotting technique.

Spokes are a
combination of space-dyed and marbled, with each spoke cut to shape. By
cutting the spokes to shape, it simplifies the shaping required to weave the
basket. Also, The rim is a new rim, lashed with waxed linen and including a beaded
center. The lashing is a modified blanket stitch.
*Remembrance Double Wall
Level: Intermediate to Advanced Size: 10” dia. x 12” high Estimated time: 8 hours Begin with a black walnut double slotted base. The inside basket is of natural reed, with black walnut splint primarily used on the outside wall. Side “flowers” use a unique technique curled horizontally as each row is woven. Handle is plain, stained black walnut. Optionally curled handle embellishment available to try out of class. Lashing is done in the “cable tie” technique. Kit: $49.00 Pattern: $5.00
*Ripples Double Wall
Level: Intermediate to Advanced Size: 15” high x 14” diameter Estimated time: 8 hours Named for the designs created by the distinct vertical curls, “Ripples” features a double slotted wooden base beginning. Black Walnut wood strips decorate the inside basket, and are a major feature on the outer basket. Curl with paper-thin maple, creating an interesting 1 ½ curl on each weaver. *Rocking Doll Cradle
Level: Advanced Size: 14” h x 15” l x 11” w (incl. rockers) Estimated time: 8 hours Sure to become a treasured heirloom, this doll cradle is worked in round reed spokes inserted into a solid hardwood base. The base and sides are woven in 4 rod (2/2) and 5 rod (3/2) waling, creating a strong, durable basket. Choose three colors for the bargello pattern. The shaped hood features continuous weave in a drop/add pattern, and is finished off with an arrow braided rim. Shaping is emphasized. *Seagrass Curls Bowl
Level: Intermediate to Advanced Size: 9” high x 15” dia. (incl handles) Estimated time: 6-7 hours This basket will challenge and develop your shaping skills, but be worth the effort. Begin with a unique “twine and sew” round base, then chase weave and plain weave the sides. Finish off with side handles, and add an outside rim entirely made of seagrass. Level: All weaving levels Size: 10” wide x 11” deep x 19” high (incl. handle) Estimated time: 6-8 hours There are lots of new techniques to learn on this basket, from a solidly packed base with perimeter row, to continuous seagrass weaving, to traditional curls with seagrass intertwined through the curls, to a seagrass outside rimband. Level: Intermediate to Advanced Size: 16 ½” dia x 16” high Estimated time: 8 hours Learn a foolproof method for creating cat’s head bases, then master shaping techniques on the sides of this basket. The inside basket – embellished with black walnut weavers - becomes a mold for the outer wall with its black walnut and natural spokes and weavers. Add wide paper-thin maple curls that twist in three directions between each set of spokes, woven horizontally in as the rows are woven rather than after rims are completed. *Shoshone Sunset
Intermediate-Advanced Level Size: 11” high x 13” diameter Estimated time: 8 hours This double walled basket features a hardwood double-slotted base. The interior basket is space-dyed in northwest Indian colors. The exterior basket, woven in natural-colored reed, features a Shoshone chevron pattern of French randing bordered by a combination 4-rod/reverse 4-rod waling pattern, in red/orange yellow/brown. Repeat 4 rows of the waling pattern near the top. The challenge in this basket is in the shaping and learning to control regular and reverse 2/2 waling. *Springtime Serenade
Level: All Weaving Levels Size: 12” long x 10” wide x 9 ½” high (including handle) Estimated time: 4 hours Sets of inch-wide marbled spokes are separated by coordinating reed spokes, all dyed in gentle springtime colors. The pre-shaped spokes, inserted into a slotted oval hardwood base in the Nantucket fashion, ensure accurate shaping of the basket’s sides. Level: Intermediate Size: 14” wide X 11” high Estimated time: 8 hours Inspired by an old rag rug pattern, this tri-colored basket is a twill weaver’s delight. Spokes are a combination of dyed reed and marbled strips – cut into undulating forms.
